A Soul Stealing Deal
Everything's virtual these days
I know, it's a simple statement
I know it requires no follow-up
no effort and no commitment
So at night, I close my eyes and
fall asleep hoping not to dream
of what may be lurking in the
dark corners in my basement
In the morning, after I wake up
With a fresh start, a shower
and a little makeup
I go to work wondering why
I keep meeting people with
fake smiles, boring stories,
half truths and useless lies
Questioning how I have
ended up here, looking around
for something real
Trying to avoid another
encounter with the Devil
offering one of his notorious
one-sided, soul stealing deal
I know, it's a simple statement
I know it requires no follow-up
no effort and no commitment
So at night, I close my eyes and
fall asleep hoping not to dream
of what may be lurking in the
dark corners in my basement
In the morning, after I wake up
With a fresh start, a shower
and a little makeup
I go to work wondering why
I keep meeting people with
fake smiles, boring stories,
half truths and useless lies
Questioning how I have
ended up here, looking around
for something real
Trying to avoid another
encounter with the Devil
offering one of his notorious
one-sided, soul stealing deal
