Camille The Chameleon
Camille The Chameleon
I don't know how all
The good stories are told
this one is nothing new
But hopefully for some
Will never be too old
It's about a chameleon named
Camille she was born very far
in an island off the eastern coast
Of Africa called Madagascar
All the animals thought she was a spy
Trying to escape deadly enemies
She would change her colors
To match the green of the leaves
And then the blue of the sky
From an early age she was taught
To rise above and to always adapt
In other words, to change a lot
Camille was so good at it
Keeping things hidden inside
So that no one could tell
That some days she felt like
she was in heaven, and
Some others in a burning hell
One day, I can't remember
Exactly when,
if it was on April or May
she finally moved
To a new land far away
Leaving her family and all her
Dearest of friends behind
It was tough but she knew
If she didn't go, she would
Lose her mind
Once she got to the new place
She realized there were
No more trees and no more blue skies
Just concrete, steel and a lot
of very busy, colorful, tasty flies
She went to school to learn
How to get a job
She met a younger chameleon
Named Candy and her heart
was robbed
Candy was all that Camille had been
dreaming of since childhood
Camille would always try
To be as sweet as Candy
Matching colors and
Struttin' around the neighborhood
Not too long after they got married,
And shortly after they had two
beautiful little hatchlings
named Reivax and Allebasi
Candy and Camille sadly grew apart
Both had to find a new start
Camille had to make some very
Difficult decisions
While trying to find a way to survive
Just matching colors was no longer
An option good enough to provide
Camille then, finally realized that
Something was very, very wrong
It couldn't be kept inside this long
So, Camille looked back at her life
almost to the day she was born
And found all the branches
that she had torn
She was a chameleon living a lie
So she did all she could to change
And fix what had been broken before it was her time to die
