Conifers by the Ocean

I wish I was on top of the world
With your hands covering my shoulders
On the edge of a cliff overlooking
a secret secluded cove
Guarded by conifers, and shielded by boulders
I wish I was dipping my bare feet in the
Coldest waters that levigate the pebbles of a pristine shore
Instead of looking at combat boots at the surplus store
I wish I was overwhelmed by the incredible amount of colors and hues
While watching the horizon separating the blues
I wish I could let my imagination flow with the ocean waves and the northern winds, to find a smile inside, and let the tears out
Knowing there's a beautiful difference between a rainbow and a sea trout
For those who wait for my return
I'm so truly sorry but I have way
too many pages still left to turn
I am here on my feet looking down
at the needless needles left
Stained with red and brown
So I close my eyes instead
and think of the ones dropped by
the majestic green conifers
on a more magical ground
