Heavy and Hollow

I am afraid that a lot more
is probably going to follow
Leaving most of us with hearts
heavy and hollow
It's inevitable, it's natural
Some have a change of heart
Their reality too difficult to discern
Nestled among patterns and
ever changing trends
Some have lost their family
and their close friends
Others with impossibly deep scars
and intolerable pain they would
Rather be living on planet Mars
forgetting that there's not
Just one mold that fits all
That we all deserve to feel whole
How sad that from that pulpit of fame
Some tell their life story making others
To look like they are ill and insane
Not realizing that they are turning
our hard fought for, beloved flag
From colorful to pitch black
