Memento Mori

I have detached from the guilt and
separated from the shame
I'm not looking for someone who thinks
And acts not always the same
I've stopped searching for unrealistic
riches and unattainable fame
I've shrugged off malignant words and
angry looks with a questioning stare
welcoming home those who dare
I am always on a quest for clarity
To fight off ignorance and bigotry
I prefer listening to six steel strings
Being plucked by the speed demons
I have summoned to battle the
forgiving angels in my head
Because I have to admit I like to
distance myself from the living
While dancing with the dead
