My Two Favorite Shells
For X and I
Under the sun rays
I listen to what Winter
Has to say
I hear shrieks and shrills
A giant albatross
among several noisy gulls
Is asserting its will
I follow the giant bird
Back to the ocean front
Where a million shells are
Covering the cold sand
Like if a child had meticulously
Placed them one by one
With a caring hand
They are inevitably laying
There side by side
waiting to be shuffled
By the commanding waves
hoping to be brought back
In the deep cold water
With the upcoming tide
If you quickly pick one
And place it next to your ear
You can listen to what
It might reveal
No one knows where
the shells have been
Or where they are from
The clouds above me,
herding, fluffy, like sheeps
move towards where
the trees grow old
That is where and when
I gather my thoughts
finding my gold
That's what I treasure the most
I'm at peace, I'm convinced
That what I'm leaving behind
Is good hearts, open minds
Well adjusted free thinkers
with a strong core
I'm proud, I'm thankful
I couldn't have asked for more
