The Easy Way Out
It was almost midnight
When with the help of a flashlight
I found my way to one of
the many hidden lakes
Deep in my thoughts and
Covered with early snow flakes
The water was more black than blue
I wish what I saw was just
a bad dream and not true
There was a big truck parked
I couldn't tell the model or make
the engine running and the lights
pointing towards the silent lake
A big man was dragging the body
of a local middle aged whore
He was pulling her over the
lightly snow covered shore
She had her hands and feet tied
tightly by a thick rough red rope
With her dead eyes still open
You could tell all she ever had
was a broken dream
and no hope
I dont know how any of this came about
But maybe the lesson here is that
there's never an easy way out
