The Leader of None
The other night
When I shut off the light
I heard a rumble
Like a stampede
Happening right
under my feet
It shook my body and
rattled my teeth
All of a sudden I found
Myself alone in a crowd
Of white faces with
No eyes and no ears
Just big mouths
Among them
A bigger one stood out
speaking foreign words
Germinating plenty of doubts
Quickly they all gathered
around me tightly
forcing me to nosedive
into a turquoise puddle
they had poured on my floor
Right in front of my bedroom door
They called it the Unknown
Chanting and humming
They welcomed me as the
New leader of none
And as quickly as they had come
I blinked and they were gone
