The Nimph
At night end, in the wee hours
When the shadows try to hold back
the tired moon from
bringing me her precious light
Amidst heart wrenching thoughts
I slowly stand up seeking counsel
From the bats flying in the air,
the owl holding a mouse reciting
His last prayer
And the fox finally giving up
chasing the faster hare
I'm suddenly distracted by
a strange glare
Coming out from behind
A lonely flower
Fighting for space
Among the grass blades
I notice a gentle silhouette
Of a tiny creature
Dancing with elegance and flair
Before I can catch my breath
She quickly flickers to disappear
escaping my intrigued stare
The sun finally arrives
Confirming my suspicions
and my fear
That there is absolutely no one
Out there
