Through The Porthole
Adjusting my hat's brim
Politely but decisevely
Closing the door latch
to one of my dreams
With this I shall begin
I may have told this before
What truly compels me
Is trying to find wisdom
In what many have turned
into moving local folklore
A long time ago
I found myself on a ship
with a motley crew
Looking through a rusty
salt water pitted porthole
I was facing the darkest
mountain-sized waves
When all of a sudden
Void of any light
I saw the biggest eyes
Deep black, like when
the day turns into night
It was a god forsaken beast
That like a three tons torpedo
Was closing fast from the east
She hit hard the gray painted hull
Of the once proud vessel
Fire on water, and blood on steel
Too many brave souls
were taken too soon
Amidst all the mayhem
And furious chaos
The giant beast
Spared me and a lucky few
from her long vengeful list
Of the ill-fated crew
