Traveling
Like a teen daring
To do something he's never
Done before
Like stealing candies
afraid to get caught
Red handed by the owner
Of the store
Naked and worn
like after an all-nighter
Tired and vulnerable
like an elderly couple
Alone with their memories
And their dignity, the most
Precious things they own
Driven in a car
with technology previously
Only seen in spaceships
Speeding from star to star
I began my journey
With a courageous woman
who left her native country
To be a sweet nanny
Now a driver trying very hard
to make a living under
a newfound tiranny
Her deep dark eyes inquisitive
and her words wise and sensitive
Was willing to share her views
unable to give the Devil his dues
When she dropped me off
I went through customs and
A giant machine that scanned me
like a top secret document
Vital only to the government
At the gate it got a bit frantic
But once on the plane
I fastened the seatbelt
closed my eyes and just like that
I was flying above the clouds
And across the mighty Atlantic
