WELCOME

First Event 2020, Boston Massachusetts

This year marked the 40th anniversary of this amazing conference organized by TCNE (Trans Club of New England), and (less importantly) it was my first attendance as a (transitioning) vendor.

I had attended a previous one that was held in Marlborough MA but just as a person who was aspiring to transition, mostly looking for dangerous fun. Needless to say, even then, I was impressed by the vast amount of information and resources available and wished I had known about all those workshops and presentations they were offering. There was even a grand gala dinner where everyone was dressed to the nines. This year was no different with the addition of a Sephora sponsored Fashion show.

This year it was held at the Park Plaza Hotel, an old hotel located in downtown Boston. I got there on Wednesday to start setting up and get acquainted with my surroundings. It was a fairly smooth process. I quickly set up my table for the event and then headed out to my room. A very small room with a bathroom that had a shower so small I had to stand in it sideways. To make things even less comfortable it had a fixed shower head positioned roughly at the height of my eyes: very annoying. I have been to motels with larger bathrooms. I wonder if the architect was heavily intoxicated when planning for this hotel. Regardless, the consensus is and was that we need to be thankful that a venue like that was willing and available to us all.
